SQL Server – SSRS – Introduction to Reporting Services

SQL Server reporting is a powerful feature in SQL Server 2008. But I think most of the persons don’t know its scalability. When I  interview  database developers for my company, I saw lot of resumes sowing experience in SSRS. But when we ask some real time scenario question, the candidate will be in trouble. SSRS is a deep subject and lot of features in it.let’s learn its features

Who uses the Report?

Reports are mainly used by the Business Managers, Business information workers, and System Administration and Database Administration workers, Software developers. Look at this below pie chart for the SSRS users.

Evolution of SSRS

Reporting Services starts from SQL Server 2000. In SQL Server 2000 reporting was done through the visual studio which should be purchased separately. From SQL Server 2005 onwards we are using BIDS i.e. Business intelligence development studio for developing reports.
